6 Months HIV Testing campaign to take place in Dire Dawa.

    An HIV Testing campaign for vulnerable segment of the society which had been set off nationwide was started yesterday in Dire Dawa Administration; different stakeholders took part in the start of the campaign.
    The campaign is intended to focus on treatment of those segments of the society who are vulnerable for HIVAIDS and creating conducive conditions for the affected ones. The campaign will cover six months time, it was learnt.
    Ato Yusuf Seid, Vice Head for Dire Dawa Administration Health Bureau, stated on the program that the number of HIVAIDS Patients is increasing nationwide which urges us to focus on the vulnerable segments of the society and treatment Toolkits and other supplies from Federal government should be appropriately utilized; for this to happen, necessary preparations are already done.
    Ato Yusuf added that the treatment given to HIV AIDS Patients previously was poorly performed; thus now this campaign will help alleviate previous problems by aggressively testing different segments of the society and identifying HIV Patients for better treatment. For doing so, different stakeholders will take part in the whole process. He further explained that it’s not only to test different segments of the society but also to weekly evaluate the campaign’s progress in line with the planned activities of the campaign.
    Sister Yodit Tegegn, HIVAIDS Coordinator in Dire Dawa Health Bureau Disease Prevention & control, on her part expressed that health workers and all other concerned bodies should work hard to make HIVAIDS no more a Disease in the society.
