A two day long validated research workshop has been conducted in Dire Dawa University from 22-23 Jan 2021. Different researches have been conducted by the University which aimed to solve social problems in the nearby society.
Proposals for these researches had been so far developed in collaboration with different institutions in Dire Dawa Administration in order to alleviate social problems prevalent in the society, it was learned.
Dr. Solomon Zerihun, Vice president for Research and community services, opening the validated research workshop on behalf of the President stated that the researches which are being conducted by the university should be community based problem solving projects which could alleviate social problems in the nearby society. Today’s validated research workshop is for about 13 research projects which had been proposed and approved to be conducted in the 2012e.c academic year, he briefed.
Dr. Solomon added that those researches which are conducted should be put in to purpose rather than put in a shelf.
They should be developed in to projects which could practically solve problems in the community. For this to happen, the university will certainly do help Researchers and stakeholders.
Dr. Temam Awol, Vice president for Business and Development, on his part explained that different types of research projects are being conducted and there is a gap in this regard, so this gap should be filled first and problem solving researches must be conducted as per the interest and priority of different institutions.
