A Discussion forum was held in Dire Dawa today, February 19, 2013 with the participation of industry stakeholders from the Dire Dawa administration and neighboring regions of Eastern Ethiopia to expand the industries and increase their effectiveness.
The forum was jointly organized by the Federal Technical and Vocational Education Agency, the Federal Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Authority and the Ethiopian National Sectoral Associations Council. Speaking on the forum, W/ro Fetum Musatafa, Vice Mayor of Dire dawa Administration, stated that Dire Dawa and the Eastern Region in general used to be known for its industry linkage but recently it’s all about history. Thus it is urgent that stakeholders should join hands to work together on the renaissance of Dire Dawa’s Industry linkage.
Representatives of Dire Dawa, Somali National Regional State, Afar National Regional State, Harari National Regional State, Technical and Vocational Education Agency, Harari National Regional State, Small and Medium Industries Expansion and Sector Associations participated in the consultative forum. They discussed issues that need to be addressed in order to further strengthen the industry and increase its effectiveness.
