The full text of the PM’s message is as follows:
Welcome Brothers and Sisters who have returned home in response to the invitation to show your citizenship!!
A country can look like a huge family. The strength of a family is determined by the times in which the family is in crisis rather than in times of happiness.
The proliferation of temptations draws some families closer together. In the event of an accident in a family with a weak foundation, there will be differences between the members of the family; Complaints come out of nowhere, Pointing Fingers are common; Instead of trying to recover, they simply say, ‘Why me?’ The fate of that family will eventually be shattered.
On the contrary, for a family with a strong foundation, trials can strengthen, not weaken. Even if there are differences, the focus is on the family members, so to speak. Everyone fights as best he can. They all share in the fall, and when the problem is finally solved, everyone is equally happy. This is a time of great testing for Ethiopia as a country. There is no rock, no stone unturned by her captors. But Ethiopia, with the cooperation of its Children, is still standing firm. The proliferation of temptations did not erode the unity of her Children. It did not overwhelm her, but it did help her to balance her abilities.
We can confidently say that the Ethiopian Diaspora around the world has proved that our country is a determined nation when it is needed. When some set out to rape Ethiopia, others rose to cover up the truth of Ethiopia, and the rest rose up to exert undue pressure on Ethiopia, our Diaspora stood together for Ethiopia. They knocked on the doors of politicians.
They lined the squares, they challenged big institutions; you have faced the wrong policies of leaders; they put pressure on the media to reflect the truth of Ethiopia.
Our Diaspora members have honored their country by being qualified diplomats for Ethiopia. In addition to advocating for the Grand Renaissance Dam, they have also accelerated the construction of the Dam by sending money. They regularly provide kind and financial support to our victims.
When Ethiopia’s foreign exchange reserves were weakened, they ate less and donated to their country. When their country is faced with the challenge of survival, they take the lead in doing what they can. They have dedicated their time and knowledge to the challenges we face in social media.
Many countries around the world have created strong ties with their Diaspora, which has helped them to grow politically, economically, diplomatically and socially. South Korea, India, China, and Mexico are good examples of this.
These countries need to have an educated workforce, increase their foreign exchange capacity, and put political pressure on the affairs of their countries in which they live; To make technology transfer: To make the affairs of their country a part of the foreign policy of the country in which they live; To mobilize material and human resources; They have used it to modernize their education, health and agriculture systems.
The above-mentioned countries have been able to make the best use of their Diaspora potential due to their sustainable, organized and readable approach. The Diaspora’s relationship with their country is sustainable. It is not based on specific seasons. They support their country in all its forms, whether in joy or in adversity.
Participate in policies, laws, and procedures. They keep their money in the banks of their country; Participate in investment; They free their country from interference in the name of aid by forming large charities that support their people in times of crisis; Establish development facilitation institutions that provide knowledge, technology and financial support to farmers and small businesses; In particular, they strive to improve the living conditions of their people through the transfer of knowledge and technology that can modernize education, health and agriculture; All of this is more than just support for relatives and friends.
To accomplish these tasks, we need to mobilize our resources, work consistently, and plan ahead. If our capacities are dispersed in every area and situation, fundamental change will not be possible. Our capacity for influence in our country will be weakened. Instead of rushing to help each other, we waste our time blaming each other.
I hope our Diaspora thinks of all this. It is believed that they can learn from the experience of other strong Diaspora communities in their respective countries. Infinite love for their country; they have a strong desire to support their country and their people to the best of their ability. They have proved this in public. They even went so far as to sacrifice their lives. When their country said, “Come back to your homeland as a million!”
On behalf of myself and Ethiopia, thank you again for honoring our call. You have come to your home. Your mother will give you everything she has. What you are being offered may not be complete. But the mother’s house is more than anything. Do not be surprised if you do not find the same efficient and modern practices that you are accustomed to in every office, business, and service.
Think of it as your mother’s house. A person cares for his mother’s house and does not complain.
To visit affected areas: I entrust you to build and support your people. I would like to urge you to see with your own eyes the Horrific Atrocities perpetrated by the Terrorist TPLF on our people.
You need to also participate in programs organized by some Institutions. Also do visit Tourist destinations. See also our development work. Most importantly, spend time with your Parents, relatives, and Friends. Sharing our sorrows and joys evenly strengthens our Family Foundation.
Have a nice stay!
May Ethiopia be frightened and honored by the efforts of her Children and live forever!!
God bless Ethiopia and its People!
