The community should further strengthen efforts to increase the economic, political and social benefits of women

    International Women’s Day, March 8, has been celebrated by our administration since February 21. One of these events was organized by the Bureau of Women and Children’s Administration with the theme “Let’s build a society that respects women’s rights” with the participation of women leaders in a Talk show.
    This year’s International Women’s Day, which is being celebrated for the 110th time internationally and for the 45th time in our country, is aimed at promoting women’s empowerment so that the community can condemn violence against women.
    In her opening remarks at the talk show, Head of the Women and Children’s Affairs Bureau, Ms. Kerima Ali, said that a lot of work has been done to address the decision-making gaps in addition to empowering women in politics. She also said that a lot of work has been done to encourage women who have reached a high level of economic empowerment.
    Speaker of the Administration Council and who was the guest of honor at the talk show, Fatum Mustafa, on her part said that if women are economically and politically competent individuals, their contribution to their families and country will be significant. According to Fatum, studies have shown that women can effectively manage the financial processes in which they participate in leadership, and its help for nation’s economic development has been seen.
    During the talk show, a study which focuses on the empowerment of women in economic and political arena was conducted in collaboration with Dire DawaUniversityby MekdesHailu, a staff of political science Department.
